BEAVON OPTS FOR BURTON
(Monday 30th June 2014)
Former Wanderer Stuart Beavon has joined League Two side Burton Albion on a season long loan deal from Preston North End. The now 30 year striker moved to North End from Wycombe on transfer deadline day in August 2012 and made 58 League One apps, scoring 9 times in the two seasons before the switch to Burton. The news of the move comes a few days after speculation that he may have returned to Adams Park but a move closer to his current home in Burton looks to have been the key behind the deal. Commenting on the deal, Preston boss Simon Grayson said, "Stuart was a player who came to see me on a number of occasions last year and felt he needed to be playing on a regular basis and this opportunity came up for him." The deal involves a clause where he could be recalled in January. |

Trust Chairman, Trevor Stroud, commenting at the meeting said, "We got to a stage with three bidders where we asked them to put a deposit down. As soon as we asked for that, they started getting less interested. One told us they transferred it to our bank account - we never saw it.
