SURVIVAL PATH
(Monday 28th April 2014)
The cold reality of Wanderers' Football League survival is that they must win at Torquay United on the final day of the season and then hope either Bristol Rovers (home to Mansfield) or Northampton Town (home to Oxford United) lose their final game. To add to any potential misery, defeat for the Wanderers would see them finish bottom of the table behind The Gulls. Looking for positives, Oxford United, managed by former Wycombe boss Gary Waddock, had won eight times on the road before Saturday, compared to Northampton's six home wins. Meanwhile, Mansfield had won seven times on the road, while Bristol Rovers had ten home wins. The table before the games on on the final Saturday (3rd May) read as follows:

7,000 AGAIN AT AP?
(Friday 25th April 2014)
Another crowd close to 7,000 is expected for the relegation showdown with Bristol Rovers at Adams Park on Saturday. By the close of business on Friday, Rovers had close to sold out their allocation of around 2,300, while total pre-match sales were closing in on 6,000. A bumper crowd of 7,004 turned out for the clash with Northampton two weeks ago and that season best figure could be broken as both sides look to help secure their Football League survival. The match is all-ticket for Rovers fans with no tickets available on the day.

15 YEARS AGO TODAY
(Thursday 24th April 2014)
If Wanderers needed any further inspiration for the forthcoming relegation dogfight with Bristol Rovers, then look no further than 15 years ago on this day when Wycombe visited Maine Road to play Manchester City in a League game. On that day anything less than a victory would have pushed Wanderers close to relegation to bottom tier of the Football League.

SURVIVAL PATH
(Monday 21st April 2014)
Wanderers had to thank results elsewhere again for keeping them outside of the relegation zone following the 1-0 reverse at Fleetwood on Easter Monday. Next Saturday's home meeting with Bristol Rovers now takes on huge significance, with Northampton potentially looking to jump above both sides should they win at Dagenham & Redbridge and Wycombe and Rovers draw. Torquay's relegation is still not confirmed after they beat local rivals Exeter City on Easter Monday. The Gulls must win at Mansfield to keep their slim hopes of survival alive and also hope that Wycombe, Bristol Rovers or Northampton lose. The table before the games on Saturday (26th April) read as follows:
including 21 Apr P W D L F A PTS GD
17 Hartlepool 44 14 10 20 49 53 52 -4

FLEETWOOD 1 WYCOMBE 0
(Monday 21st April 2014)
Wanderers missed out on the opportunity of easing their relegation fears after losing 1-0 to a Fleetwood Town side reduced to ten men after just 12 minutes. Gareth Ainsworth's team failed to take the initiative after hearing that fellow strugglers Bristol Rovers had lost in their 1pm kick-off with Rochdale. The only consolation from another miserable away day watching the Wanderers was that 23rd placed Northampton Town lost 1-0 at home to Portsmouth, with both Rovers and The Cobblers still trailing Wycombe on goal difference. Next Saturday's meeting with Rovers has now been described by Ainsworth as one "which for all intent and purposes will probably decide the future of the club." SURVIVAL PATH
(Saturday 19th April 2014)
Goal difference continued to keep Wanderers out of the relegation prior to Easter Monday games. Bristol Rovers remained below Wycombe after losing 3-2 at Portsmouth on Saturday, with former Wanderer Matt Harrold scoring both Rovers goals. Torquay's relegation will be confirmed if they fail to win their local derby at Exeter on Easter Monday. The table before Wycombe's trip to Fleetwood Town on Easter Monday read as follows:

WYCOMBE 1 NORTHAMPTON 1
(Friday 18th April 2014)
Wanderers' relegation showdown with Northampton Town ended 1-1 after Aaron Pierre's 18th minute header cancelled out The Cobblers opener six minutes earlier when Matt Ingram could only help Ricky Ravenhill's cross from the right into his own net. It's now onto promotion chasing Fleetwood Town on Easter Monday, before the home clash with fellow relegation battlers Bristol Rovers on Saturday 26th April.

6,000+ ON GOOD FRIDAY
(Thursday 17th April 2014)
A season best crowd of more than 6,000 is expected for Good Friday's clash between Wanderers and Northampton Town at Adams Park. As of close of business on Thursday (18th April), The Cobblers had all but sold out of their 2,000 seats behind the goal, with a further 200 seats being made available in the 'old' Main Stand close to the away end. Meanwhile, total ticket sales (including Wanderers Season Ticket Holders) had reached 5,300. Tickets will also be available on the day, with the turnstiles opening at 1pm. Walk-up on the day should take the attendance above the current season high of 5,751 (including 1,851 away fans) that turned out for the Oxford United game in January. |

NEWPORT 2 WYCOMBE 0
(Saturday 12th April 2014)
A shocking second half performance from Wanderers saw Gareth Ainsworth's side fall to a 2-0 defeat at Newport County. With Northampton beating Burton, only goal difference separates Wycombe from the Cobblers ahead of Good Friday's clash between the two sides at Adams Park. It's in Wycombe's hands - two home victories would virtually secure Wanderers Football League status before the final day trip to seemingly doomed Torquay but with just six home victories this season to date, that is easier said than done. Chesterfield have recalled midfielder Sam Togwell from his loan spell with the Wanderers. The promotion chasers activated a 28 day recall clause in the contract following injury problems for The Spireites. ten man Dagenham & Redbridge 2-0 at Adams Park and keep just clear of the relegation zone after Northampton also won 1-0 on the road at Accrington. With five games left to to play for all clubs, Wycombe (46 points) now travel to Newport County next Saturday (12th April) looking to continue their road to League Two safety.
