Wanderers stunned their critics on Saturday with a thoroughly deserved 2-0 victory at Boundary Park. Dannie Bulman gave Wycombe a dream start on 4 minutes and substitute Richard Harris wrapped things up in the 85th minute.

Lawrie Sanchez DEADLINE CONFUSION

The Football League are still awaiting confirmation from FIFA on whether the 31st August transfer deadline will apply to their member clubs. The FL objected to the proposed transfer block that would run until the end of the year. Clubs will continue to be allowed new player registration, including loan signing from Premier League clubs although from Wycombe's point of view, Lawrie Sanchez has said that new signings are unlikely.

The Club have announced that they have contracted out the matchday catering at Adams Park in an effort to improve service to the supporters. This follows feedback from recent surveys and the club's novel telephone 'cold calling' idea.

Reserves RESERVES BEAT POSH

Wanderers' Reserves registered their first points Avon Insurance Combination of the season on Wednesday afternoon with a 4-1 victory over Peterborough United at Buckingham Road. Jonny Dixon (4,26) and an Andy Thomson header (18) put Wycombe in control before Posh pulled a goal back shortly before the break. Richard Harris sealed victory with a goal three minutes from time. Lawrie Sanchez's words came true after saying his side had "got to bounce back against QPR". Wanderers ran out 4-1 winners but both sides finished with nine players after referee Rob Styles went red card crazy.

Andy Baird BAIRDY JOINS BRACKLEY

Former Wanderers' striker Andy Baird has joined Hellenic League side Brackley Town. 23 year old Baird was released by Wycombe at the end of the 2001/2 season and had trials at Exeter City and Aldershot Town before joining the Northants side. Andy Baird - Player spotlight

Wanderers slumped 3-0 at Bristol City on Saturday and are still in search of a first League win of 2002/3. Frank Talia made his Wycombe debut after Martin Taylor pulled out at the last minute with a back problem. Keith Ryan returned to the starting line-up.

Wanderers Youth YOUTH TEAM ROUND-UP

Wanderers' Youth Team's were in action against Gillingham at the weekend. The U19's travelled to Kent and drew 1-1 with Jonny Dixon putting Wanderers ahead but the home side levelled despite being reduced to ten men following a red card. Meanwhile the U17's went down 5-2 at Molins Sports Ground with U15 player James Faulkner on the scoresheet twice.

Reserves RESERVES LOSE AGAIN

Wanderers' Reserves went down 3-0 at Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday afternoon at Home Park. Argyle took the lead in the 19th minute through Ian Stonebridge and the same player added another from the spot after a handball in the Wycombe penalty area. Rugby at Adams Park WASPS KO AT ADAMS PARK

London Wasps kicked off their two year tenure at Adams Park on Sunday with a 33-27 'friendly' victory Irish side Connacht. A crowd of 1,789 turned out to see the first ever Rugby match held at Adams Park. Their first 'home' League game is on 8th Sep.

A late headed goal by Paul McCarthy salvaged a draw against Mansfield Town on Saturday at Adams Park in a game that Wanderers could have won with ease. Goals from Sean Devine and Craig Faulconbridge put Wycombe 2-1 ahead but the visitors hit back after the break.

Wanderers Youth YOUTH TEAM KICK-OFF

Wanderers' Youth Team's began their League campaign's at the weekend. The U19's drew 1-1 with Portsmouth at Molins Sports Ground with Matty Warner scoring a late equaliser. Meanwhile a weakened U17 side lost 4-0 at Peterborough.

Scoreboard SCOREBOARD SAGA
Wycombe have spent £10,000 on installing two new scoreboards similar in design to the original one at the corner of the Valley End and Woodlands Stand. The infamous 'hi-tech' scoreboard that was ditched after just a few games last season is now the subject of £35,000 legal battle.

Wanderers drew 1-1 with Northampton at Adams Park in a game held up by a thirty minute delay due to floodlight failure. When play resumed Darren Currie gave Wycombe the lead on 47 minutes but Jamie Forrester equalised on 69 minutes.

TV deal ITV TO GRAB HIGHLIGHTS

In what would be one of the biggest compromises in their history, the Football League look set to award ITV companies Granada and Carlton with a goal highlights package to show on its regional stations. The BBC and Channel 5 were also in the running but the League look likely to go for a deal worth around £6m over three years with its courtroom buddies.

A late goal from Craig Faulconbridge was just enough to see Wanderers scrape a draw from this opening day encounter at Notts County. Martin Taylor took his place between the sticks after declaring himself fit enough to play.

Suspensions NO SWEARING PLEASE

Players will have to be on their best behaviour this season following the introduction of tighter laws regarding foul and abusive language during games. Any such behaviour directed at the Referee or other officials will result in a straight red card.
Frank Talia LOAN KEEPER BROUGHT IN

Lawrie Sanchez has moved in to bring in 6'1" Australian 'keeper Frank Talia on a three month contract. The 30 year old has been brought in as cover for the injured Martin Taylor. He's a former Blackburn, Swindon and Wolves man but has not played League Football since a spell at Sheffield United during the 2000/1 season. Last season he was on Reading's books.

SwanFM will be continuing with live matchday commentary from all Wycombe home and away League games this season. The station formerly known as 1170am can be found on 107 FM in the the South Bucks area.
Matchday WIGAN KO MOVED

As expected the kick-off time of Wycombe's League game at Wigan Athletic on Saturday 7th September has been moved to avoid clashing with England's game with Portugal on the same afternoon. The game will now kick-off at 2pm to suit those intending to hang around to watch the England 4pm KO.
Lawrie Sanchez SANCH & GIBBO SIGN AGAIN

Lawrie Sanchez and Assistant Terry Gibson have agreed new deals with The Wanderers running until July 2005 according to reports on the official website. It has also been revealed that an unnamed Division One Club had made an approach for Sanchez during the summer but this was turned down following discussions with Chairman Ivor Beeks.
Mark Rogers ROGERS' SCOTTISH HOPE

Mark Rogers will be hoping to add to his Canadian caps when his home country take on Scotland in a full international friendly in October. The game is due to take place in Edinburgh at Easter Road, home of Hibernian on Tuesday 15th October.
TV deal LEAGUE CHIEFS RESIGN

Football League Chairman Keith Harris and Chief Exectutive David Burns have both resigned over the ongoing situation following the collapse of ITV Digital. Ironically Burns was not on the Board at the time the deal was struck. Wanderers' Chairman Ivor Beeks is thought to have been at the meeting in London when the resignations were announced.
Martin Taylor 'KEEPER QUANDARY

Wanderers have a goalkeeping quandary ahead of the Football League opener at Notts County next Saturday keeper. Martin Taylor will return to light training this week but it must be touch and go if he will be ready. It's understood that 6'6" traillist Ian Feuer has been ruled out due to his wage demands, meanwhile 2nd choice 'keeper Mark Osborn has gone on a season long loan to Farnborough Town and cannot be recalled.

Mark Osborn OSBORN JOINS FARNBORO

Wanderers second choice 'keeper Mark Osborn has joined Conference side Farnborough Town for a season long loan. The 21 year old had a short spell with the Hampshire side towards the end of last season and the move adds speculation to Wycombe's move to bring in a more experienced cover for Martin Taylor. TV deal LEAGUE LOSE OUT IN COURT

The Football League has lost its High Court battle to claim the £131.9m still owed by Granada and Carlton from the collapsed ITV Digital deal. The three day hearing ruled that the contracts were not binding. The League are now considering whether to appeal or even take their own legal advisors to court.
