Wycombe crashed out of the LDV Vans Trophy at Brighton. The scores were 1-1 after 90 minutes but the home side scored after 60 seconds of extra-time to go through on the 'Golden Goal' rule. Wanderers made ten changes to the side that drew with Swindon on Saturday.

Wanderers Youth Team YOUTHS THROUGH IN CUP
(Tuesday 30th October 2001)
Wanderers' Youth Team disposed of Canvey Island by 5-2 in the First Round of the FA Youth Cup. A Jonny Dixon hat-trick was complemented by strikes by Billy Harding and John-Paul Kelly. The reward is a home tie against Cirencester Town on Tuesday 6th November.

Richard Walker NO WALKER APPEAL

On loan striker Richard Walker will not have his red card appealed against. Lawrie Sanchez studied the video and told the Midweek BFP "It was probably the one decision that the referee gave that you couldn't argue with". Walker's three match ban starts on Saturday 10th November and Wycombe will have to arrange a new deal if he's to play for The Wanderers again.
FA Cup CUP TIE TO BE LIVE ON SKY

Wycombe's FA Cup First Round tie at Hayes has been chosen for live TV coverage on SKY TV. The game will now be played on Friday 16th November with an 8pm kick-off. Both club's will receive £100,000 as a result of the TV coverage. The game will be ALL-TICKET and the ground capacity will be around 4,000.

FA Cup EIRE CALL-UP FOR SIMPEMBA

Wanderers' Youth Teamer Ian Simpemba has been selected for the Republic of Ireland Under 19 squad to play in an European Championship Mini Tournament in Cork during November. The Irish team will play Austria, Croatia and Latvia.

FA Cup FA CUP FIRST ROUND DRAW

Wycombe have been draw away to Hayes in the First Round of the 2001/2002 FA Cup exploits. The tie is scheduled for the weekend of Saturday 17th November. Wycombe have a massive incentive to do well again this season with an unprecedented amount of sponsorhip money now available.

Richard Walker scored and was later sent-off as Wycombe drew 1-1 with Swindon Town at Adams Park on Saturday. Walker's goal on the stroke of half-time cancelled out Wayne Carlisle's 25 yard strike in the 23rd minute. Wycombe have now extended their unbeaten League run to eight games.

News NEW CLUB SHOP OPENS

Wanderers opened a new Club Shop prior to the Swindon game. The Club have had built a large 'portacabin' style unit close to the entry of the ground that will stock a full range of Club merchandise. The existing Club Shop at Adams Park has been branded a 'cupboard' by some cynics and it's hoped the new scaled up version will increase matchday sales significantly.

Wanderers' Under 19's side drew 1-1 at Colchester United on Saturday morning. Marc Leach put Wycombe ahead before the current leaders of the Football League Youth Alliance (South-East) equalised. The Under 17's had no game.

Wanderers Youth Team YOUTH TEAM BOSS QUITS

Wanderers' Youth Team boss Gary Goodchild has quit the Club to return to his adopted homeland of Norway. Goodchild, who is married to a Norwegian, will return around Christmas time after announcing the shock news to First Team boss Lawrie Sanchez. He has cited family commitments as the reason for his decision to leave following 3.5 years with Wycombe.

Ben Townsend's injury has now been diagnosed as 'extensive ligament damage' and now faces a lengthy lay-off. There has also been a scare with the news that Jermaine McSporran left the ground on Saturday on crutches after turning his right ankle. He'll probably miss Saturday's game with Swindon but Jason Cousins should be available after his back injury.

Wycombe's new scoreboard is unlikely to be in operation for the Swindon game on 27th October. The scoreboard was due for delivery from Wales this week but there were no signs of it by Thursday evening. Apparently electronic faults and a power 'safety issue' at Adams Park have held up the installation.

Tickets are on sale now for Wanderers' 2nd Round LDV Vans Trophy tie at Brighton on Tuesday 30th October. The game is ALL-TICKET for ALL FANS due to planning regulations at the Withdean Stadium. Wycombe's reserve game at Cheltenham the following day has been postponed.

Wycombe extended their unbeaten in Division Two to seven games with a 2-2 draw against Colchester United at the old scrapping ground of Layer Road. All the goals came in the first half with Wycombe coming from behind on two occasions. Wanderers remain 6th in the Division Two table.

Welsh WWFCROBERTS IS READY

Wanderers' Welsh capture Stuart Roberts has spoken out briefly about Swansea City Chairman Tony Petty and how he's ready for his new challenge at Wycombe. Roberts branded Petty "an absolute disgrace" after he 'sacked' seven players at The Vetch Field and put others on reduced contracts. But he now says he's ready to give Wycombe 100%.

Jermaine McSporran's goal on 54 minutes saw Wanderers extend the unbeaten run in the League to six games and move up to 5th place in the Division Two table. The kick-off was delayed for 30 minutes after Wycombe's team coach was delayed due to massive tail backs on the M4.

It was a good weekend for both Wanderers' Youth Teams in The Football League Alliance. A Jack Smillie header saw the U19's beat Leyton Orient at Molins while the U17's came back from 3-1 down to beat Leyton Orient 4-3 at Brisbane Road.

Reaction from Swansea on Wanderers' capture of their star winger Stuart Roberts has been unanimous - at £100,000 Wycombe have got an absolute bargain! The Welshman is in London today for a medical and is expected to be given the all clear before signing on Friday morning.

A Paul Emblen goal on 69 minutes was enough to see Wycombe eliminate Brentford in the First Round of the LDV Vans Trophy. Emblen was one of eight changes in the Wanderers' line-up from Saturday's 1-1 draw with Bournemouth. Wycombe will travel to Brighton in Round Two on 30th October.

Swansea City winger Stuart Roberts will sign for Wycombe this Friday subject to a medical. The 21 year old was at Adams Park on Tuesday and agreed terms on a three year deal following a meeting with Lawrie Sanchez. Wycombe will pay £100,000 for the Welshman.

Members attended the Football Club AGM on Tuesday evening at Adams Park where they heard of a net profit of just over £150,000 for the 2000/2001 season. Approximately £1m of 'unbudgeted additional revenue' came as a result of the remarkable run to the semi-final of the FA Cup.

Wanderers' Under 19's were out of action on Saturday (13th October) but the Under 17's drew 2-2 at home to Cambridge United. Billy Harding and Mark Philo scored the Wycombe goals but Philo missed a penalty to make the score 3-1.

The Reserves continued their good start to the season with a 2-0 victory at Bristol Rovers on Wednesday evening in the Avon Insurance Combination. A strong Wanderers side claimed the points with a 7th minute header from Gavin Holligan and a 30 yard shot from Paul Emblen with five minutes left on the clock.

Aston Villa have agreed to extending the loan deal with Richard Walker for another month. The current deal would have ran out after Saturday's home clash with Bournemouth at Adams Park and Sanchez wants to see more of the striker before considering a permanent deal.

Wanderers return to their new training facility at Booker has been delayed after Lawrie Sanchez wasn't happy with the state of the newly laid pitches. Sanchez has refused to let his players onto the pitches which have been renovated at a cost of £50,000 and it could be months before they meet the Managers' approval. Wycombe will now have to head back to RAF Halton following a short spell at Molins in Monks Risborough.

Wycombe can not appeal against the sending-off of Paul McCarthy at Bury. There is no appeal process for the one match ban applicable in this case. Lawrie Sanchez studied video evidence after the game and commented "Having a different angle on it I can see why the ref made the decision he did". Wycombe have been drawn away to Aylesbury United in the opening round of this season's Berks and Bucks Senior Cup. Last season Wycombe were forced to withdraw due to fixture congestion caused by the FA Cup. A date has yet to be arranged for a tie that Wycombe will regard as a reserve run-out.

Former Wycombe midfielder Mo Harkin is on trial with First Division Gillingham. Harkin impressed for The Gills 2nd XI in their 0-0 draw with Luton Town last Wednesday (26th September) and local reports indicate he will given further chances. Wycombe drew 1-1 at Gigg Lane on Tuesday evening after seeing Paul McCarthy sent off in the 16th minute for a 'professional' foul. Ten minutes earlier Steve Brown has given Wycombe the lead but Paul Reid equalised from the resulting spot-kick for The Shakers. Wanderers go 10th in the table.
