Background: A product of the Wycombe youth set-up with the 1998/99 season being his first full season with the professionals after a long-term injury kept him out for most of the previous season. Scored 9 goals in 25 games for the Wycombe youth team during season 1996/97 and was also called upon to perform in the centre of defence.
What we think: Injuries restricted 'Bairdy's appearances for the First Team but there was no doubt he provided a vital contribution to the team. Nicknamed the 'Crash Test Dummy' by his team-mates his knack of taking a tumble earned many a free-kick and penalty. Also scored some cracking goals, including memorable strikes against Man City and Gillingham. Some say the FA Cup would have been ours if he hadn't been crocked at Selhurst Park in Feb 2001. Sadly released at the end of the 2001/2002 after it appeared that he was too much an injury liability.
