GOES FOR DALEY HELP (Tuesday 29th May 2001)  Stewart
Castledine is calling on the help of former Olympic star and friend Daley
Thompson in a bid to win a regular First Team spot at Wycombe. Castledine,
who made just six starts last season, told the Midweek Free Press "The
Wycombe fans have been fantastic to me and have been very patient and I
want to repay them". He'll be training with Thompson throughout
the summer and confirmed he still sees his future at Wycombe "This
is a club that's going places. I'm convinced that next season we are going
to go up and I want to be a big part of that"'POOL UP BUT ROYALS BLOW IT (Sunday 27th May 2001)  Wycombe
will travel to Blackpool next season in Division Two after The Seasiders
beat Leyton Orient 4-2 in the Division Three Play-Off Final in Cardiff on

Chairman Ivor Beeks has said that "a record amount" of
money will be available in the player budget next season. In a statement
to the press this week, Beeks said "I can confirm that we'll be
investing the extra money we got from our FA Cup run in new players, so

Club will be releasing two videos to help relive the 2000/2001 season. Seven
Ties and a Semi-Final will be the title of FA Cup run while Taylor
Made documents the League campaign. They will retail for £19.99 and
£14.99 respectively but fans can get a £5 discount if they buy both and
the Cup video comes with a FREE semi-final programme which sold for £5.The videos, along with a book containing around 150 photos from the Cup run, will be available around the middle of July. The book will cost around £10. SANCH'S PLANS FOR 2001/2002 (Wednesday 23rd May 2001)  Lawrie
Sanchez has gone away for a well earned holiday but will still be keeping
an eye on the transfer situation. After last season's remarkable cup
exploits, the Wycombe boss has set his targets for 2001/2002 on the
Division Two campaign saying "Next season we are determined to

of non-League sides are heading a campaign called to put pressure on the
authorities to increase the promotion from the Conference to the Football
League from one club to two. The Football League meet on 7 June to discuss

FINED AND BANNED AGAIN (Friday 18th May 2001)  Lawrie
Sanchez has been fined £2,000 and banned from the touchline for two
games following his altercation with fourth official Geoff Winter at the
FA Cup Semi-Final at Villa Park. Sanchez pleaded not guilty to the charges
of using foul and abusive language at an FA hearing on Thursday (17th May)
but does not intend to appeal. The Wycombe boss was banned for three games
following a similar outburst at the Quarter-Final tie at Leicester.DIV 2 AND 3 PLAY-OFFS (Wednesday 16th May 2001) Reading will play Walsall in the Second Division play-off final at Cardiff after late goals from Martin Butler and Nicky Forster saw them overcome Wigan Athletic in the semi-final second-leg. Walsall got past Stoke City with a 4-2 victory at The Bescott Stadium. In the Third Division play-offs, Blackpool and Leyton Orient came through to earn their trip to the Millennium Stadium. SEASON TICKETS PRICE FREEZE (Tuesday 15th May 2001) Season Tickets for the 2001/2002 season are on sale now and there's good news for fans as most prices have been frozen. Prices were released on Friday (11th May) after The Board put off making their decision as they wanted to gauge the level of support right up until the final day of the season. Season Tickets had been available for new applicants since mid March and it was thought that these prices would be typical of the new figures, however, the Board had a rethink after seeing gates rise at Adams Park following the FA Cup run. Fans can get discounts on Season Tickets by buying before 5.15pm on Saturday 7th July. Advanced matchday prices have also been frozen but the 'sting in the tail' for those that pay on the day will now be a £2 'mark-up' on the advanced prices as opposed to the £1 extra charged in previous seasons. Season Ticket and Matchday prices 2001/2002 - full listing >>> DAVEY GETS ONE YEAR DEAL (Tuesday 15th May 2001) The Club have confirmed that Dave Carroll has agreed a new one year deal with Wycombe. It will be Carroll's 14th season at Wycombe and comes after his scoring spree at the tail-end of 2000/2001 season. Carroll might be joined next season by the forgotten man Sean Devine. There were fresh hopes that Devine might actually kick a ball again after an exploratory operation showed some signs of progress on his problem knee. |

TAYLOR SPECIAL FEATURE (Friday 11th May 2001) 
Wanderers' Player of the Season, Martin Taylor was featured in a recent
interview for The Wanderer magazine. He spoke of why he stayed at Wycombe
when he his contract expired last season and the great memories he has of
the 2000/2001 FA Cup run, described by Taylor as the highlight of his

Wycombe Chairman Ivor Beeks thanked Wycombe fans for their support
throughout the season after the final day game with Colchester and then
said it would allow Wycombe to "put a few pennies in the pot and

Sanchez predicted the proposed merger between his former club Wimbledon
and Queens Park Rangers would fail due to pressure from fans. Both Club's
have since scrapped the idea but are still looking at ways to solve their
financial problems. QPR are in administration and play Wycombe for the
first time in League football next season following their relegation to

will travel to Huddersfield Town in Division Two next season after
Crystal Palace and Portsmouth made a dramatic last day escape from

BATESY
CALLS IT A DAY (Saturday 5th May 2001)  Jamie
Bates has played his last game for Wycombe after announcing the
shock decision to retire from the professional game. The 33 year old told
Manager Lawrie Sanchez of his decision before the final League game of the
season against Colchester. It was the central defender's 100th appearance
for Wycombe since joining on a free from Brentford in March 1999. He's
quickly established himself as a firm favourite with the fans and hit a
career best of six goals this season as well as featuring in the

remarkable season drew to a close on Saturday afternoon with 1-1 draw with
old rivals Colchester United. In front of the biggest league gate of the
season at Adams Park (7,516) it was The U's who opened the scoring on 52
minutes when Scott McGleish headed past Martin Taylor from Dean Morgan's
nod on. Keith Ryan drew the scores level in the 70th minute and it was

Taylor scooped all the end of season awards prior to Saturday afternoon's
meeting with Colchester. Taylor has been ever-present this season and has
had, quite simply, a magnificent season. He lined up to pick trophies from
the Club plus Official and Independent Supporters' Club's.Taylor took over 70% of the votes in most polls with central defender Paul McCarthy the most popular second choice. The winning goal came in the final minute. The lads have missed out on honours this season but with an intake of promising newcomers plus the continuing development of the Under 17 side, the future looks bright for next season. SEND THE GAS DOWN (Wednesday 2nd May 2001)  Wycombe
sent Bristol Rovers into the basement division for the first time
in their history on Wednesday evening as second half goals from Danny
Senda and Dannie Bulman stunned the locals during a 2-1 victory for the
Chairboys. Wycombe were without Steve Brown (suspended) and Dave Carroll
(injured) but Lawrie Sanchez returned to the bench after his three game
touchline ban to see his side register their sixth away League victory of
the season.After the game Lawrie Sanchez said he took no pleasure from see Rovers relegated "I saw Rovers on Monday when Port Vale put three goals past them and they were finding it hard to get goals themselves that night. It took a quality goal for us to beat them and we take no joy in sending Rovers down even if their fans spent the second half pelting my keeper with coins. Relegation isn't about one match, it's about results through a season. They decide your fate and we just delivered the coup de grace." played their final away game of the season at Bristol Rovers in the new ProStar
tangerine 'away' kit. The kit got off to a bright start as Wycombe won 2-1
to send Rovers into the Third Division.Fans will be able to buy the kit after the end of the season while the new 'home' kit will also get its first League outing for Saturday's visit of Colchester United. New shirt released - updated story >>> CASS SCORES AS RESERVES CRASH (Wednesday 2nd May 2001) Stewart Castledine scored Wycombe's consolation goal as The Wanderers Reserves lost 5-1 in their final game of the season at Peterborough United. With the First Team at Bristol in the evening, Youth Team boss Gary Goodchild took charge of the side again and Castledine was the only 'old-head' amongst a very young line-up for The Wanderers. Posh were 2-0 up inside two minutes and five goals to the good before Castledine scored with ten minutes left on the clock. NO RETURN FOR SCOTTY (Tuesday 1st May 2001) There will be no return for former Wanderers' hero Keith Scott on Saturday when Wycombe take on Colchester United in the final game of the season. 33 year old Scott was released by the Essex club on Monday after failing to impress during his second spell at Layer Road. He originally joined The U's on loan from Reading in October but he's now been released on a free. Lawrie Sanchez now hopes to sit down with the 34 year old during the summer to discuss a deal that would take him into his 14th season with The Wycombe. Carroll told the Midweek BFP "I love the club and I don't want to leave. I've been here 13 years and feel I've still got something to offer Wycombe". Sanchez sees Carroll as a squad player and isn't expecting him to play week in, week out.
