MAIDENHEAD U 1 WYCOMBE 4

Wycombe came back from conceeding an early goal to run out comfortable 4-1 winners in the final pre-season friendly at Maidenhead United. Wanderers now prepare for the opening League game of the season - away to Crawley Town on Saturday (6th August).

ALDERSHOT 2 WYCOMBE 1

Wanderers conceeded twice in the opening ten minutes as they went down 2-1 Aldershot Town on Tuesday (26th July). The Shot's, managed by former Wanderers boss Gary Waddock, also included four ex-Wycombe players in their line-up - with two, Scott Rendell and Matt McClure, netting the goals for the hosts. Wanderers new signing, Will De Havilland, fired home on 88 minutes for a consolation goal for Gareth Ainsworth side.

TWO MORE SIGNED

Gareth Ainsworth has completed two more signings prior to the start of the 2016/17 season. 31 year old former Cheltenham Town goalkeeper Scott Brown and 21 year old central defender Will De Havilland, released by Sheffield Wednesday in the summer, have both signed two year deals at Adams Park. The pair both impressed in the recent friendlies with Brentford and QPR. Brown made close to 300 appearances for Cheltenham during a nine year spell, prior to spending the last two seasons with Scottish Premier side Aberdeen. Meanwhile, De Havilland, a former trainee with Millwall, has yet to make a senior competitive appearance. |

Wanderers continued their pre-season preparations with a goalless draw with QPR at a sunbathed Adams Park on Friday. Gareth Ainsworth continued to experiment with a number of trailists, including further run-outs for 'keepers Scott Brown and Nik Tzanev, plus central defender Will De Havilland. Ade Akinfenwa made his home debut for Wanderers but was replaced at the break by Garry Thompson.

FREEMAN SIGNS 1 YEAR DEAL

Wanderers confirmed the signing of former Histon attacking midfielder Nick Freeman just prior to the kick-off of the friendly v QPR on Friday. The 20 year old joins on a one year deal after impressing in the friendlies with Le Havre and Brentford. Freeman made his Histon debut as a teenager during the 2012/13 season and went on to score 26 goals in all competitions during 126 appreances. During his time with Histon he also had brief trials with Norwich City and West Ham United. He ended the 2015/16 season with short spells at Hemel Hempstead Town and Biggleswade Town. |

New signing Dayle Southwell netted Wanderers' equaliser on 77 minutes as Gareth Ainsworth's side drew 1-1 with 'Championship' side Brentford at Adams Park. John Egan had given the visitors the lead on 40 minutes against a starting Wycombe XI that included trialists; former Cheltenham Town goalkeeper Scott Brown, Hull City central defender Harvey Rodgers, plus another run-out for Histon attacking midfielder Nick Freeman. New signing Ade Akinfenwa was serving a one match suspension for his red card in the friendly against Le Havre. The second half saw a second trialist 'keeper, former Reading youngster Nik Tzanev, take over from Brown, while another trialist centre-back replaced Harvey. It was the impressive trialist Freeman that saw a shot from just outside the penalty area strike the post before Southwell followed in to score and secure a share of the spoils.

FORMER CLUB HQ LOST

A former headquarters of the Wycombe Wanderers has been lost to developers who will build 21 flats on the site with an estimated market value of £5million. The Nag's Head Public House in London Road, High Wycombe was the HQ of the Wanderers between 1889 and 1897 and was the venue for many significant meeting and social gathering in the early progressive years of the Club. The pub would later become a significant live music venue - peaking in popularity during the 1960's and 1970's when recently passed local promoter Ron Watts was at the helm. IBE MOVE TO BRING WINDFALL

News confirming Jordon Ibe's £15m transfer from Liverpool to Bournemouth on Thursday evening (14th July 2016) is set to kick in 'sell-on' clauses from the deal that took the then 15 year old to Anfield in December 2011. Liverpool have paid Wanderers upwards of £600,000 for the original transfer plus numerous 'add-ons'. The deal with Bournemouth, a record for the South Coast side, is expected to see Wanderers net around 15% of any profit Liverpool make from the deal - equating to around £2m. Priority on use of the windfall would be to pay off the remaining £1.44m debt to former owner Steve Hayes. The Club also last reported debts of around £450K with 'The Chairboys Funders', an ex-Brewery loan totalling £183K and an estimated £47K in lawyers fees. LE HAVRE 1 WYCOMBE 1

A last minute scrambled goal from Aaron Pierre salvaged a 1-1 draw in France against Le Havre in a game where new signing Adebayo Akinfenwa was red carded.
The former Wimbledon man was sent packing along with home player Samba Camara after the two players scuffled following a hefty challenge by Camara on fellow new face Dayle Southwell. The friendlies continue for Wanderers next Tuesday (19th July), when Brentford are the visitors to Adams Park - kick-off 7.45pm.

WANDERERS SIGN THE BEAST
(Sunday 10th July 2016)
Wanderers confirmed the signing of Adebayo Akinfenwa during the kit 'launch day' at Adams Park on Sunday (10th July). The 34 year old, nicknamed 'The Beast', has attained cult status during his 13 year professional career and joins Wanderers on a one year deal having been released from promoted Wimbledon at the end of the 2015/16 season. The 16 stone striker will be no stranger to Wanderers followers having been on the opposing side in games versus Swansea, Gillingham, Northampton and The Dons in the past ten seasons. He will join up with the Wycombe squad ready to take on Le Havre on Tuesday evening.

NEW KITS FOR 2016/17
(Sunday 10th July 2016)
The Club revealed the new kit designs for the 2016/17 season during a special 'launch day' at Adams Park on Sunday 10th July. The new 'First Choice' kit retains the traditional quarters but incorporates horizontal sky blue stripes within the dark blue segments. The 'Change Kit' reverts back to an all white design while the new goalkeeper kits will see a white design design as first choice, with a lime and pink arrangement as an alternative. The new kits will be supplied for the first time by O'Neills, with the main sponsor, Beechdean Ice Creams, continuing on the front for a third successive season. The kits went on sale from 1.30pm on Sunday (10th July), with a new online shop promised 'in due course'. The white kit will be used for the forthcoming friendlies away to Le Havre and home to Brentford, while the new quartered kit will be debuted at home to QPR on Friday 22nd July. |

FAN PUBLISHES BOOK

Wanderers fan James Cumming has kept a New Years resolution to publish a book about his beloved team, with the release of Small Town Dreams - a 400 plus page, partly fictional tale, of his life experiences during the 2000/1 run to the FA Cup Semi-Final. The flip-side of the story is that Cummings managed to miss the run due him undertaking a pre-planned childhood dream of travelling the world.

FIXTURE CHANGES
(Friday 1st July 2016)
Two fixtures changes for Wanderers for the 2016/17 have been confirmed. The New Year's Eve 3pm kick-off fixture at Cheltenham Town has been brought to 7.45pm the previous evening (Friday 30th December 2016). While, the home meeting with Mansfield Town originally scheduled for Saturday 15th April has been brought forward by 24 hours to Good Friday (14th April 2017), kick-off 3pm. Another possible change maybe Wanderers' game at Yeovil Town on Saturday 8th October. This is the same day as England take on Malta in a World Cup qualifier at Wembley (kick-off 5pm) but no change has been yet announced for the game at Huish planned with a 3pm kick-off.
