Background: At 17 years and 8 days old became the youngest ever player at the time to make a Football League appearance for The Wanderers when he came on as substitute against Cambridge United in the final game of the 1999/2000 season. A product of the Wanderers Youth set-up but started out with Portsmouth and Bournemouth before Wycombe gave him a chance at the age of 15.
Johnson had limited chances in the season immediately following his Football League debut but an injury crisis at Wycombe forced Lawrie Sanchez's hand and it was to his benefit when he suddenly realised what a great prospect he had sitting on his doorstep. After seven solid performances and a goal during the 2001/2002 season he was offered a three year deal before an unfortunate injury cut short his season.
Has since established himself in the First Team although had to endure being in and out of favour during Tony Adams' year long reign as Wycombe Manager. However, still managed to pick up the Player of the Season award for the 2003/4 season and upon the arrival of new Manager John Gorman was to eventually agree a new deal in December 2004 running until June 2007. He told the Wanderers official website at the time "I am really pleased to be signing a new contract for the club. This time last year I would not have thought this would be possible but since the arrival of John Gorman he has given me a new approach to things and I am well pleased."
