Background: 6'3" 'keeper who joined The Wanderers Centre of Excellence at the age of 14 after being spotted playing for a local side in Thame. Initially had limited chances at Senior level due to being behind Martin Taylor and Mark Osborn in the pecking order and was loaned out to Beaconsfield SYCOB during 2001-2002 to gain more experience. Signed a one year pro contract for the 2002/3 season in April 2002 but still failed to break into the First Team following the arrival of Frank Talia. Eventually made his Football League debut on the opening day of the 2003/4 season as a stand-in for the injured Talia. Went on to keep his place in the side but was then demoted again when Tony Adams preferred on loan 'keeper Scott Bevan. However, Bevan's move to Wimbledon in favour of Wycombe in March 2004 saw 'Willo' back in the Wycombe side and he seemed to be improving every game as the season drew to a close. Unfortunately dislocated his finger in the game at Plymouth on 10th April 2004 and missed the remainder of the season. However, he was rewarded with a new one year contract in May 2004 and he commented to the local press “It is a big relief. I have supported this club since I used to watch them on the terraces at Loakes Park” Gained a further one year extension to his contract under John Gorman but had to wait until the final day of the regular season before making another Football League appearance. However, he impressed enough to hold his place for the play-off games and also impressed new boss Paul Lambert to be offered another contract extension, this time until June 2007. This was then followed days later by Williams being loaned to Conference side Forest Green Rovers for the whole of the 2006/2007 season but with a recall clause in the January 'transfer window'. Made 25 appearances for Rovers before activity in January 2007 saw the player return to Wycombe and 'mutually agree' to be released from his contract and search for another club.
