Background: Originally a trainee with Brighton & Hove Albion while his uncle, Martin Hinshelwood was the Brighton Manager. He made his senior debut in The Seagulls 'First Division' meeting at Burnley in August 2002 aged 18 and went on to make more than 100 senior appearances for the south coast club before Gary Waddock brought him to Aldershot Town in the summer of 2009 and promptly made him Club Captain. It was then Waddock who returned to his former club to bring the defender to Adams Park on a short term deal at the start of the January 2010 transfer window. Waddock commented at the time, "I know him from Aldershot. This is the second time I've signed him and I like him as a player. He's a leader.". His playing career has also seen call ups for the England Under 21 squad. His father is Paul Hinshelwood, the former Crystal Palace player. On signing for Wycombe Hinshelwood stated, "This is a good opportunity for me at Wycombe Wanderers and in the next month or so we will be facing the likes of Norwich City, Leeds United and Charlton Athletic. It is a real challenge to try to help keep the club in League One but I am always up for a challenge."
