Background: After two weeks on loan, Emblen signed permanently for Wycombe in September in a deal reported to be worth £60,000. Emblen joined Charlton Athletic in the summer of 1997 from non-League Tonbridge Angels but couldn't break into the First Team at the Premier League side.
What we think: Will always be remembered for scoring the vital goal that kept Wycombe up in the last game of the 1998/99 season at Lincoln. A leg injury kept him out for the majority of the 1999/2000 campaign and there was a further injury set-back when he broke down during his return in a reserve game in October 2000. Returned to First Team action at the start of 2001/2002 season and subsequently had his contract extended until May 2002. However, come March 2002 Lawrie Sanchez decided to let the player go on a free transfer. One deciding factor would have been that if Emblen had made one more appearance, then Wycombe would have to pay Charlton another £10,000.
