Related story - 26 May 2000 - Castledine signs for Wycombe
Background: Signed on a free for Wycombe at the end of May 2000 from Wimbledon having spent nine years as a professional with The Dons. Had a two month loan spell at Wycombe during August and September 1995 when he scored three goals in seven appearances but failed to become a First Team regular on his return to the Premier League side. His Reserve Team Manager at Wimbledon was Lawrie Sanchez and his last Premiership appearance was at the end of 1998/99 season at Highbury.
What we think: His move to Wycombe was seen as a chance to re-start his career but he had a quiet 2000/2001 with just six starts in the First Team and only one goal. He pledged to get fit during the summer of 2001 and force his way into regular First Team contention but the plan never paid off and in the end it was good news for Wycombe fans when in April 2002 there was news that he had departed by mutual consent.
