Youth Alliance news for 2006/7
The Youth Alliance was restructured for the 2005/6 season with the end of season 'Merit matches' being replaced by an expanded League programme. Wanderers will now play in a thirteen team 'South East Conference' as opposed to an eight team division for the past few seasons.

A new format for the League Cup was also introduced that sees teams from the South East Conference and South West Conference regions split into four groups (two of six and two of five teams). Wycombe were drawn in the same group as Portsmouth, Plymouth, Brentford, QPR, Yeovil and Swansea. Each side will play each other once in their group with the group winners going through to contest semi-finals and then a final to establish a South Winner. The South winner will then face the North Winners in the overall final.

Youth Team coach for the 2006/7 season is Ian Culverhouse, the former Spurs and Norwich City player. The 40 year old has coaching experience at Swindon, Barnet and most recently at Leyton Orient where he had been Head of Youth and then First Team coach before being dispensed in the summer of 2005 by O's boss Martin Ling. He joined the Wanderers in July 2005 following the departure of Gary Smith to Watford.

New First Year Apprentices for the 2006/7 are Adam Holloway, Gavin James, Eddie Savage (younger brother of released Andy Savage), Scott Shulton, Callum Botham and Jack Tallentire. Second Year Apprentices for the 2006/7 season are Lloyd Boateng, Stuart Cattell, Lewis Christon, Robert Rice and Sam Tucknott. Alan Massey, a left back from Beaconsfield SYCOB, joined the youth team set-up after the start of the season. They are joined by the retained Third Year Scholars Tom Cadmore, James Faulkner and Dean Thornton. Highly rated central defender Lewis Christon moved up to First Team team duties during the 2006/7 season, having signed an extended professional contract with the Club in March 2006 lasting until the end of June 2008. He went of to make his Football League debut as substitute in the 'League Two' game at Mansfield in February 2007 and made a further five starts before the end of the season.

Towards the end of the 2006/7 season one year professional contracts were signed by Stuart Cattell, Robert Rice and Alan Massey. Meanwhile, Lloyd Boateng, Pietro Giambrone and Sam Tucknott were all informed they would be released at the end of the 2006/7 season following the completion of their two year apprenticeship. Also released in May 2007 were striker James Faulkner and goalkeeeper Dean Thornton, while Tom Cadmore was retained on a further one year professional contract running until the summer of 2008.
