Youth Alliance news for 2005/6
The Youth Alliance has been restructured for the 2005/6 season with the end of season 'Merit matches' being replaced by an expanded League programme. Wanderers will now play in a thirteen team 'South East Conference' as opposed to an eight team division for the past few seasons.

A new format for the League Cup is also being introduced that will see teams from the South East Conference and South West Conference regions split into four groups (two of six and two of five teams). Wycombe were drawn in the same group as Exeter, Plymouth, Brighton, Luton, Newport and Swansea. Each side will play each other once in their group with the group winners going through to contest semi-finals and then a final to establish a South Winner. The South winner will then face the North Winners in the overall final.

Wanderers Youth Team news 2005/6
Wanderers went into the 2005/6 season with a new face in charge of the Under 18 side. Youth Team Coach Gary Smith opted to join Watford from the start of the 2005/6 having been with Wycombe for just over a season. Smith's replacement was announced in July 2005 and was Ian Culverhouse, the former Spurs and Norwich City player. The 40 year old has coaching experience at Swindon, Barnet and most recently at Leyton Orient where he had been Head of Youth and then First Team coach before being dispensed in the summer of 2005 by O's boss Martin Ling.
Culverhouse will be looking after five new First Year Apprentices for the 2005/6 season. They are Lloyd Boateng, Stuart Cattell, Lewis Christon, Robert Rice and Sam Tucknott. These join what will now be the Second Year apprentices remaining from the start of the 2004/5 season - they are Gary Bunting, Tom Cadmore, Wesley Douglas, James Faulkner, Craig Roberts, Andy Savage, Ryan Tackley and Dean Thornton. It's understood that from the orginal input of eleven apprentices for the 2004/5 season that Shane Garricks and D'juvane Davidson have since left the Club, while Ikechi Anya has been converted to a professional contract and will only play for the Youth Team when not on First Team duty. Elsewhere, Rashid Kamara, who will be 18 years old in February 2006, has been signed on First Year Pro contract allied to the Youth Team. Steven Gregory and Liam Grier remain as Third Year Scholars from the old Youth set-up prior to the introduction of the MASE apprenticeships.
New Apprentice info 2005/6
Complementing the Under 18 line-ups throughout the season will be a sprinkling of players from the lower age groups and also the occasional triallist. Falling into the former category will be 6'3" schoolboy goalkeeper Alex McCarthy who will be aiming to be taken on as apprentice from the start of the 2006/7 season. Striker Jason Griffiths was also on trial from Beaconsfield SYCOB during the pre-season programme and was hinted that he could be added to the youth squad at a later stage. However, it subsequently came to light that Griffiths had played for Wanderers without the permission of Beaconsfield SYCOB and the matter was being looked into by the FA prior to the start of the 2005/6 campaign. Meanwhile, Pietro Giambrone was added to the First Year apprentices in September 2005 and Josh Mulvany in February 2006.
