'Big Front Man' Ricketts looked the most promising of the trio but the entire Wycombe team struggled to get to grips on a terrible surface. Indeed Wycombe were left chasing the play for most of the first of the game. Victor Renner should have scored after 17 minutes when he was clean through on the left but he drove the ball in the side netting. Then eight minutes before the break United's Colin Simpson headed over from a Renner cross. Half-time 0-0 Chesham dominated the opening stages of the second-half. Both Paul Abrahams and Ross White saw chances go begging before Wycombe finally created a chance - Ricketts thumping the ball against the foot of the Chesham post from inside the penalty area. The home side responded when Abraham's forced Osborn to tip over but there was nothing the Wycombe 'keeper could do to stop Renner giving Chesham the lead after 62 minutes - the United striker breaking from midfield and cleverly flicking the ball over the advancing Osborn. Wycombe introduced more height with the addition of Youth Team players Ian Simpemba and Peter Holsgrove. Holsgrove, brother of ex-Wycombe midfielder Lee, was in the action straight away when he fired in a snap shot from 18 yards that went just wide. But Chesham finished the stronger side and should have doubled their lead in the final minute when Lee Allen fired into the side netting. Final Score Chesham United 1 Wycombe 0
