INGRAM FOREVER IN CLUB RECORDS
(Saturday 23rd January 2016)
Matt Ingram's departure to QPR on Friday 22nd January 2016 was greeted with sadness by many Wycombe fans but his almost unique playing record with Wanderers, will be remembered forever.

The High Wycombe born 'keeper came within three games of setting a Club record of consecutive Football League appearances. Ingram's absence due to injury for the meeting with Carlisle United on 24th October 2015 meant he had completed 113 consecutive appearances for Wanderers in the Football League since making his debut against Accrington Stanley in March 2013. Only fellow goalkeeper Martin Taylor had made more - 115 between 18 January 2000 (away to Colchester) and 17 August 2002 (home to Mansfield).

Ingram's consecutive record in all competitions was cut short by injury in the final game of the regular 2014/15 season. An ankle problem at Northampton, in what was his 100th consecutive Football League game, prevented the former Youth Teamer from taking part in Wycombe's play-off campaign and also left him 8 games short (at 111 consecutive appearances) of catching Paul Hyde's Football League all competitions game record of 119 straight appearances between August 1993 and September 1995 - a one match suspension finally ending Hyde's run of appearances.

Martin Taylor's record of 115 consecutive Football League appearances for Wanderers came after he signed for Wycombe in the summer of 1997 on a free from Derby County. He went on to miss just seven League games in four seasons and was ever present during the famous FA Cup run of 2000/2001. A back problem after the Mansfield game in August 2002 ended his run of consecutive games. He returned to the side but eventually retired from the game in May 2003.

Meanwhile, Ingram leads fellow goalkeepers Nicky Bull (97 consecutive League apps) and Paul Hyde (93) in the top ranking list for Wanderers. 5th in the list is the highest ranking outfield player - Mickey Bell, who made 81 consecutive Football League appearances between 14 October 1995 and 3 May 1997, before leaving for Bristol City. Wanderers legend Dave Carroll is next with 73 straight apps, including every League game under the relatively short reign of Manager Alan Smith.

50 or more consecutive Football League appearances for Wanderers.

The record for the most consecutive appearances in all competitions in the entire history of the Wanderers is held by another goalkeeper Gary Lester. He made 164 back-to-back appearances between March 1984 and December 1986 before missing a game due to holiday commitments. Paul Hyde follows Lester with 121 straight appearances that includes two appearances at the end of Wanderers' non-League days in season 1992/93. Two other club legends, defender Keith Mead - 117 appearances between March 1976 and April 1978, and midfielder Larry Pritchard - 113 between March 1972 and May 1974, are the only other players ahead of Matt Ingram (111 games) in the all time list.
