Ex-Arsenal trainee Canoville played in the 3-1 victory at Swindon two weeks earlier and looked fairly comfortable in the right wing-back position before having to leave the field with a twisted ankle. Meanwhile, Vajanne, a 24 year old Finnish striker, was making his first appearance in a Wycombe shirt having flown over on Monday morning for a trial. However, the man from Atlantis failed to impress and it was left for Gavin Holligan to earn the plaudits of the onlookers. Wycombe fielded a strong side against relegated Barnet but after near misses from McSporran and Lee found themselves a goal down - Fraser Toms being allowed to run through from midfield before slotting past Mark Osborn in the 25th minute. Some clever ball skills from Holligan almost brought an equaliser five minutes later and shortly afterwards the ex-West Ham striker saw a powerful effort parried, only for Vajanne to miss the follow up with his head. Vajanne's best moment came when he made a neat exchange with Canoville down the right flank but Bees 'keeper Danny Naisbitt saved the final shot from Holligan as the frustration continued for Wycombe. Canoville's interest in the game ended four minutes into the second-half when he went down clutching his ankle after he had defended a through ball. Wycombe continued to battle away but never had enough ideas to break down the Barnet defence. The nearest Michael Forsyth's side came to equalising came on the hour mark when good work from Holligan down the right flank ended with Ben Townsend's high ball into the box just missing the vital touch from Leeyon Phelan. The visitors sealed their victory in the 81st minute with another breakaway, Toby Oshitola cutting in from the right before delivering a ball that Mark Taylor slotted away with ease.
