THE MATCH PICTURES & SOUNDS FANS VIEWS WHAT THE PAPERS SAID
These pages are a collection of reports, fans views, pictures, sounds clips and newspaper cuttings from the nail biting game at Lincoln on Saturday 8th May 1999. For many the day begun at Adams Park at 9.30am as over 30 coaches, laid on free by the Club, shipped the Blue Army to Sincil Bank.
THE JOURNEY STARTS HERE
Adams Park Saturday morning 8th May 1999 - Just look at all those coaches, a bus spotters dream!
Close to 3,000 Wycombe fans made the journey to Sincil Bank on the final day of the 1998/99 season as the battle for Division Two survival reached its climax. A dramatic victory over Wigan the previous Wednesday meant that victory at Lincoln on the last day of the season would see Wycombe stay in Division Two. Only Man City failing to beat York at Maine Road OR Oldham winning against Reading AND scoring five more goals than Wycombe, would have meant the dreaded drop. With free coach travel available, more than 30 coaches were waved off at Adams Park by Chairman Ivor Beeks at 9.30 on Saturday morning to see the biggest game for Wycombe since the 1994 play-off final against Preston at Wembley.
