KNOW YOUR HISTORY:
Wycombe Wanderers first met Wealdstone in serious competitive football in the 1st Round of the 1954/55 FA Amateur Cup. A crowd of 7,000 gathered at Loakes Park on 18th December 1954 to see a 1-1 draw played out. Cold weather delayed the replay until 1st January 1955 when Wanderers came out 2-1 winners. Blues would battle throught the next three rounds before losing 1-0 to Bishop Auckland in a semi-final played at Doncaster Rovers before a gate of 24,800.
Athenian League Wealdstone joined the Isthmian League for the 1964/65 season and began a seven season spell of meeting Wanderers at League level for the first time. The two clubs would also meet again in the Amateur Cup - Wanderers coming out on top at a tie at Wealdstone January 1970 before a 4,129 gate and again the following season at Loakes Park watched by a crowd of 4,345.
The Stones departure to the professional ranks of The Southern League for the 1971/72 season meant the two sides would not meet again in First Team competition until a 1983 FA Trophy at Loakes Park - Wanderers edging a 2-1 victory with goals from Mark Hill and Ken Wilson. But Wycombe suffered a FA Trophy defeat to Wealdstone at their Lower Mead ground in the 1984/85 season.
The sides would met for the first time at [National League] level during the 1985/86 season. Wanderers were relegated at the end of that campaign but would briefly resume their rivalry in the 1987/88 season before The Stones began their downward spiral in non-League football. The most recent competitive meeting prior to the 2024/25 2nd Round FA Cup tie was a 1st Round FA Trophy encounter at Adams Park - a solitary Steve Guppy goal enough to take Martin O'Neill's side to the next round and eventually on to win the competition at Wembley in May 1991 against Kidderminster.
