| WYCOMBE'S NUMBER ONE FANZINE RETURNS ON THE NET... | |
HELLO HELLO! The close season was certainly livened up for me by the sight of Stewart Castledine peering from the cover of HELLO! in full wedding garb on the arm of his new missus and Eastenders crumpet Tamsin Outhwaite. The only disappointment was in the accompanying text (never a strong point with HELLO!) that failed to mention the mighty
Blues despite the fact that Castledine had departed some weeks previously. No doubt attempting to justify his Cover-Star status, it mentioned that Stew was in, 'negotiations with other clubs', which was no doubt cut from the original passage of, 'negotiations with bankrupt home counties clubs while casting a nervous eye in the direction of the unemployed pro's safety net that is Rushden & Diamonds'. Still the Beckham of Buckinghamshire managed to look the part, no doubt thanks to that previous modeling experience with TOP MAN, when he used to appear on in-store billboards modeling those (in)famous £15 sweaters that kept their shape as well as Eammon Holmes. Despite his lack of premiership fame he at least had a neck - which couldn't be said for fellow clothes horse Peter Beardsley, who was purveying polo necked knitwear at the whim of a particularly idiotic advertising executive. Perhaps the publishers might like to enter into an arrangement with the Nationwide league for quiet celebrity weeks, such as: ALAN BEETON SHOWS US AROUND HIS LUXURY BEDSIT IN WYCOMBE'S EXCLUSIVE CASTLEFIELD AREA Or A NEW STABLE FOR KEITH SCOTT AT THE MADEJSKI STADIUM Perhaps AN INVITATION TO THE INSTALLATION OF JAMIE BATES' NEW ROOF-MOUNTED SUNBED But if HELLO!, OK! and the rest aren't tempted, it should at least provide inspiration for THE QUARTERMAN, although a few changes would be necessary to avoid copyright infringement. Printing photos at strange angles and using at least 13 different fonts on a double page spread would probably best achieve this. In other words - sticking with house style.... |
