The presentation also saw a set of Nationwide sponsored training bibs and sweatshirts passed to the team. ![]() Women's FA Cup: On Sunday 28th September the team were edged out of the Women's FA Cup by Luton Town Belles. Karyn Atkinson gave Wanderers an early lead but the visitors hit back to lead 3-1. Jasmine Brown scored late on from a quickly taken free-kick but Wanderers couldn't find the all important equaliser. ![]() Other news: In addition to their normal League and Cup fixtures the First Team played a friendly against Great Britain Deaf Women's team during February. The match finished 3-0 in the Blues favour although it was really closer than the scoreline suggests. For the opposition, who are only able to get together for matches, the fixture provided a good opportunity to work on a few things in preparation for next year's Disability Games in Melbourne. Youth Team: The U12 'A' team won their first trophies of the season on Saturday 16th August, winning the U12 tournament run by Wycombe Wanderers Ladies FC. After reaching semi-finals in three girls competitions over the summer, the team were thrilled to be going home with Winners' trophies after a 1-0 victory over Chesham & Prestwood in the final. Julia Blackstock scored the only goal with an excellent individual effort in the second half after good distribution from the back saw a breakaway down the left. Coach Graham Malcolm, who also coaches the Ladies first team, was full of praise for the whole team: Katie Hudson, captain, Sian Pill, Charlie Clarke, Mollie Laverty, Vicky Smyth, Kirsty Gladwin and Julia Blackstock. Wycombe Wanderers U12 'B' team also reached the semifinals after securing a win and a well-fought draw against the eventual runners up in the group stage. Coach Marion Lyon was delighted to see the improvement that players have made over the the last 6 months, especially those who haven't had many opportunities to play competitively: Natalie Cregan, Stephanie and Kim Bignall, Katie Brown, Louise White, Nicola Robinson, Chloe Hughes, Hannah Wilson and Daisy Turner. Previous season: Reports from the 2002/3 season are available from the link opposite. ![]() ![]() Those interested in reading more about Women's Football should look out for the new Magazine titled fairgame. Follow the link below for the associated website (www.fairgamemagazine.com) ![]() Sponsorship: We have seen many changes over the last couple of years and the support of local businesses has become increasingly important in supplementing the players own contributions. Alan Evans, of Marlow Coaches has watched Wycombe Wanderers for many years and having seen the Ladies’ teams play a few times last season, was keen to support the dedication of the players and coaches. Prestwood Motors has recently relocated their garage; director Lee Embury is keen that the business continues to play an active part in the local community and has offered to underwrite some of the uncertainties of our continual development. These two businesses have pledged a total of £750 a year for the next 5 years, together with offers to help out with any special projects if they can. This provides us with a platform to plan for the future rather than continue to try to respond on the spur of the moment, for which we are very grateful.
