Reserves match report

Wanderers Ladies Reserves v Holmer Green
Sunday 9th February 2003

In a closely fought game, Wycombe Wanderers Reserves beat local rivals Holmer Green 3-1 and held onto their 100% record.
The heavy pitch didn’t do either side any favours and just one goal was scored in the first half; Tahli Jenkinson picked up the ball outside the area, saw the keeper off her line and tried a lob from 25yards out! Not bad for a first ever goal and against her old club too!
Early in the second half, captain Amy Watters stepped forward after a handball in the area gave the home side a penalty and doubled the advantage. That comfort zone was short-lived however, with Holmer Green’s Emma Hunt getting one back for the visitors almost immediately with a shot from the edge of the area.
There were chances at both ends and a couple of excellent saves from Buttons in the Wycombe goal were important as the tension mounted. Blues’ third goal was scored by Laura McLean who picked up Becks Mellor’s through ball and struck just inside the area to give a scoreline a little more comfortable than the game maybe deserved.

Final Score Wycombe 3 Holmer Green 1
