Match report

Bracknell Town Reserves v Wanderers Ladies
Sunday 3rd November 2002
League

Karyn Atkinson Wanderers Ladies teams both maintained their 100% league records with two good wins on Sunday 2nd November. The first team beat Bracknell Town Reserves 9-0 and the Reserves came back from 2 goals behind to beat Milton United 4-2.
The performance against Bracknell was a big improvement over recent weeks and our efforts were rewarded by goals, Five in the first half and another four in the second. Amanda Quintal was back in the squad joining Karyn Atkinson and Jenny Kitley in the centre of midfield. Nic Thorne played a good 45 minutes on her return from a shoulder injury that has kept her out since the end of last season.
Anna Moelland played on the left and worked the line well with Helen Scourfield behind her and was again unlucky not to score. Atkinson and Oakley shared the goals between them – Atkinson topping the scoring and Oakley picking up Bracknell’s vote for the player of the match. This was however a real team performance with everyone playing their part. Our left back is rarely seen up for corner but today picked up a half clearance on the edge of the area and laid the ball into Oakley’s path for goal number 6, and that was typical of the afternoon.
The Berkshire team’s keeper had a good game and picked up most of the long range efforts and dived bravely to prevent Kitley scoring her first goal in Wycombe colours. At the other end Louise Plumridge, in the Wycombe goal and her back four looked confident and comfortable, preventing the home team any clear scoring chances and able to pick out the passes that they wanted to make. Such an improved performance is a real confidence boost before the trip to Southampton on Sunday 10th November for a top of the table clash, followed by two cup games to complete November.
