Wycombe drew 0-0 at Weymouth in their fifth pre-season friendly before the start of 2004/5 campaign. Both teams fielded under strength line-ups and clear cut chances were limited for either side.
Team news for Wycombe saw Frank Talia return in goal for Wycombe for his first appearance of the pre-season programme. Nathan Tyson returned up front following a dead-leg received in the game at Chesham but the former Reading player was taken off on the hour mark as a precaution. On loan Southampton central defender Mike Williamson made his first start in a Wycombe shirt as did Brighton based triallist Russell Martin and First Year Pro full-back Sonny Ball. Up front there was a debut appearance for triallist striker Luke Burgess.
Predictably Wycombe looked their most dangerous when Tyson was on the pitch and went closest to scoring through the former Reading man when his 44th minute free-kick was pushed onto the cross-bar by the home 'keeper. The second-half saw a burst into the box from the left by Shahed Ahmed bring claims for a penalty after the former Wimbledon trainee seemed to be tripped but referee Lee Cable was not convinced. It was generally the home side who looked the more likely to claim victory as the game moved towards its conclusion. Weymouth Player/Boss Steve Claridge netted with a header on 76 minutes only for it to be ruled out for offside but the home side looked incapable in front of goal as Wycombe. Dixon and Burgess for all their efforts never really tested the 'keeper, the former causing the most threat in the 89th minute when a run in from the right flank forced a swift block by Terras triallist 'keeper Scott Ward. Roll on the 'real' stuff.
