AINSWORTH HITS 500 GAMES AS BOSS
(Saturday 5th March 2022)
Gareth Ainsworth hits another landmark in his Managerial career when he takes control of Wycombe Wanderers for the 500th time in a competitive First Team fixture when his team visit Crewe Alexandra in a 'League One' fixture on Saturday 5th March 2022.

The former QPR player took over as Caretaker Manager of Wanderers in September 2012, following the departure of Gary Waddock – taking charge for the first time in Wycombe’s 3-0 defeat at Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday 29th September 2012.

In close to ten years in as gaffer at Adams Park, Ainsworth has been on rollercoaster ride that has seen the Club; dice with relegation from the Football League (The Great Escape at Torquay May 2014); suffer League Two Play-Off heartbreak the following season (Penalty Shoot Out loss to Southend at Wembley May 2015; gain auotmatic promotion to League One (Dominic Gape's goal at Chesterfield April 2018); achieve a second tier place for the first time ever (That evening at Wembley in July 2020 beating Oxford United); just failing to achieve Championship safety and returning to League One in May 2021. Couple that with extended runs in the FA Cup - reaching the 3rd Round or better on four occasions, including a remarkable tie at White Hart Lane in January 2017, leading Spurs 3-2 with just minutes remaining but eventually being edged out with two late goals from the Premier League team.
