Morecambe 1
Wycombe Wanderers 1
Saturday 11th January 2014
Football League Two

Paris Cowan-Hall - headed Wanderers into the lead at Morecambe Wanderers drew 1-1 at 9th placed Morecambe despite having the better of play and taking the lead four minutes before the break when Paris Cowan-Hall headed in his fifth goal of the season following a corner swung in from the left by Nick Arnold. However, the hosts eventually got back on level terms on 78 minutes when substitute Joe Mwasile broke down the right before finding Andy Fleming, whose cross to the near post was powered home by the head of Kevin Ellison. But Wanderers still had chances to win the game, with Jo Kuffour and Josh Scowen both seeing efforts cleared off the line.

The draw at Morecambe followed Gareth Ainsworth making four changes to the side that had crumbled 3-0 at home to Wimbledon the previous week - Matt Bloomfield, Matt McClure, Gary Doherty and Steven Craig returning to the side, while Marvin McCoy, Anthony Stewart (suspended), Billy Knott and Jo Kuffour were left out of the starting XI. Wycombe are now 18th in the table with 28 points from 24 games.

Post match reaction:
Gareth Ainsworth Commenting after the game, Gareth Ainsworth said, "It was a superb performance. We said what we were going to do – it’s alright saying it but to back it up is something different. We backed it up and I thought, to a man, we were the better side. Coming to Morecambe on an horrendous pitch – but I’m glad the game went ahead, the referee has done fantastically there – I think we’ve done well to get a point. We could have nicked it at the end after having two cleared off the line in the last five minutes. We’ve conceded one shot on our goal. Matt’s had one shot and he didn’t get there, but it wasn’t his fault. We had a few things in the final third where the quality could have been that bit better, but we’re building. I’m very pleased with what I’ve seen and we’ll take that into Oxford next week without a shadow of a doubt."
