WYCOMBE LOSE OUT AGAIN
(Thursday 16th August 2001)
???? Wycombe have missed out on the chase to bring Hibernian central defender Martin McIntosh to England. First Division newcomers Rotherham have stepped in leaving Lawrie Sanchez with more headaches trying to fill the central defender role left by the retirement of Jamie Bates. 30 year old McIntosh was struggling to make the First Team at Easter Road and a three month loan spell at Adams Park has been muted.

The Bucks Free Press confirmed the interest from Wycombe. Lawrie Sanchez saying "We've agreed the paperwork with the club, they are amenable to letting him go but I haven't been able to speak to the player yet. I'm hoping he might be down here by the weekend." However, even before the paper went to print The Millers have snatched the former Spurs trainee from under Sanchez's nose with a similar three month loan at Millmoor.

The Wycombe boss is now likely to take an extended look at former Arsenal defender Lee Canoville who played for the reserves at Swindon on Wednesday afternoon.
