Matt Lawrence in the chair MATT LAWRENCE
IN THE CHAIR.
(part six)

WWISC: Can you explain the recent run of poor results?

Matt: I can put it down to a few things - slight lack of confidence, the fact we've got such a small squad. We've had so many games recently, the games have been catching up with the squad. It's difficult to deal with at the moment. I'd say we've only got 14 to 15 players to choose from at the moment. We've got a lot of inexperienced lads and it's a bit unfair to throw them in at the deep end. It harks back to last season. When I came to the Club we had played 12 or 13 games and got two points.

WWISC: Is it true that you're tough in training?

Matt: Supposedly - a few of the lads will tell you that. I'm quite tough and bit silly sometimes. I lose my rag and it happens in training as well as on the field and it's something I've got to curb. Having such a small squad you don't want to to injure your own players - it's something I'm trying to lose.

WWISC: Finally is there anything the fans can do to get behind the team?

Matt: Away from home the support is absolutely fantastic and we appreciate it immensely. At home you've got the hard core fans and the not so hard core fans and at times we just need everyone to get behind the team. Every player trys their best and unlike some other clubs there are no pre-madonna's  on really big money. Everyone is fighting for the cause. Even if you speak to the 'gaffer' he will say that the one thing about Wycombe at the moment is that everyone fights for each other. There's a great team spirit. If we have an 'off-day' that's a fact of life. Everybody has an 'off-day' at work.

Thanks to Matt for spending time with Ted Wheller (Chairman of WWISC) and Paul Lewis (Chairboys on the Net) for this enjoyable interview. We all hope that Matt gets the opportunity to play at a higher level - hopefully at Wycombe!
