BEEKS TALKS TO FANS (Saturday 29th April 2000)  Club
Chairman Ivor Beeks addressed Wycombe Wanderers supporters in an after
match speech following the last home game of the 1999/2000 season. A packed Vere
Suite heard Beeks dismiss recent press reports regarding proposed changes to the
Club constitution as mere "papertalk" and not necessarily "Wycombe
Wanderers talk". On the playing front Beeks said "Next year we
will be able to give him (Lawrie Sanchez) some money in order for him to get
some players"The constitution is clearly the top of the current agenda at the Club and Beeks said "We do intend to try and turn the Club around and change the constitution but we're not going to do that until we speak to you, the members and then after we shall have an EGM". "Over the last few months I and some of my Directors have spent many hours talking to a number of people in High Wycombe who are keen and who are interested and want to see this Club benefit and flourish and go forward". Beeks emphasised the fact the discussions were taking place with business people from High Wycombe before adding "Providing that situation continues and we can use those people to come in and form a new board of directors, I'm sure all those things that you want from Wycombe Wanderers, security, stability, will still be there. I don't intend to go until until that time is reached and I don't intend to go in the near future either" Beeks then pointed out Manager Lawrie Sanchez had asked the Chairman "to be around while I'm still around", which Beeks thought was "a rather nice gesture". back to News Desk... |
